We are Heading Back to Asia Next Week

Next week, Hisano and I will  be heading back to Asia for the biggest pearl-buying trip of the year - the Christmas buy! We will be heading first to Japan, followed by a week in Hong Kong for the large, September jewelry show. This show attracts nearly 52,000 buyers from around the world, including a lot of our friends from Pearl-Guide.com's forum, turning the week into a family reunion of sorts.

The September show is split into two parts; one at the Asia World Expo at the Hong Kong International Airport, and another at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai. The most important show for us is the one held at the Asia World Expo. This is where the pearl producers exhibit and where jewelry manufacturers go for loose pearls. Finished jewelry is more prevalent at the latter show.

This past June, Hisano and I collected as many truly unique, one-of-a-kind pearls as we could find for the 'Pearl Connoisseur' selection we put together early this month. We were thrilled with the overwhelming response, and are now considering doing similar promotions in the future. We will still be on the lookout for the new and the unique this trip, but our main focus this time is going to be on traditional inventory.

As I mentioned in June, if you have something on your wishlist that you would like either one of us to find, drop either one of us an email and we will do our best.

Lastly, I will be speaking at the Wanchai Show on September 16th. If any of our friends are at the show and would like to attend, we would love to see you!

I’ve really only seen white, silver, blue, gold and now pistachio in akoya. But akoya are definitely on the list this trip, so we’ll see what we can come up with. I’ll be on the lookout for most Pistachio for sure.

As for the Edisons and the dark Edisons, I am going to turn Hisano loose in the freshwater areas for a couple of days!

Jeremy, I’m looking forward to your next pearl buying trip. I would like to ask a question please. I have seen the blue akoya and the green akoyas on your ombre akoya / tahitian necklaces. Last trip you brought pistachio akoyas. What other colors are available with these incredible overtones. Will you be buying more of these out of this world akoyas? Also, please bring in more of the dark edison pairs for dangle earrings. I was out of town and missed the three pairs you put up on the August sale. Thank you to you and your designers for the innovative and fresh work they are putting out. It makes me return to your site to see it anything new is added.

All on the list! We do really hope to find more metallic white drops too. They’ve been such a hit!

Oh what fun! Please find more metallics – silver-pinks rounds, deep lavenders rounds, large silver-lavender tear drops and large white tear drops! I’d love to have a strand each of the silver-pink and deep lavender colors in 7-8 mm or 8-9 mm. Also will PP have more of those metallic white drop shaped pearl pendant and earrings? I missed out on those since I was late on the metallics bandwagon. I left a note with customer service of my interest in the silver pink strand, but after reading through pearl-guide, my list keeps getting longer. Thanks!
